I'm sorry to hear of Art's passing. Art and Lane hired me, fresh out of law school, back in 1979. I learned a lot from Art, not just about law. His work ethic and devotion to family were an inspiration. My husband and I recall fondly the Thanksgiving we spent with the Shaw family in their home on Descanso many years ago. Art gave me turkey-cooking tips that I've followed every year since. Art's example, and his wise advice, have made a difference in my life. My condolences to the Shaw family.

Dear Sally, I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing. My deepest condolences to you and all of the beautiful Shaw family. John and I loved both your parents and considered them dear friends. I know your dad will be deeply missed by all your family, but that you will find comfort in knowing that they are together again in their eternal rest. Love and prayers, Bernadine Barrow

Art hired me for my first job straight out of law school. He was my mentor, friend, political advisor, and more like a father than a boss. He freely shared his great wisdom and Missouri humor, taught me a lot of important things you can't learn from books, and inspired me to pursue a career in public service as a city attorney. I am extremely grateful to have known him, and will be indebted to him always.

I met Art when his daughter, Sally, was one of my math students. I enjoyed his personality and approach to parenting. Sally was fun to teach and I can remember her rolling of eyes when Art made comments -- typical daughter's reaction to a dad at this time of her life! And, of course, Art's reaction afterwards...

Art partnered with Lane Stuart in a law practice. A true Dynamic Duo! RIP, Mr. Shaw!

Art was kind, generous with his time, and a true gentleman. He was the epitome of what an attorney should be, and devoted countless hours to public service. My sympathies to his family - he will be truly missed.

Art's passing is a great loss to those of us who believe in the protection and the importance of the environment, the rule of the law and the dignity of all. His qualities of goodness and fairness stand out to those who were lucky enough to call him a friend. Deepest Condolences to the family, Melanie Billig, former Mayor of S.L.O.

I met Art when we were volunteers on a political campaign. I am blessed to have met him and I am sorry to hear of his passing.

We all received much from having Art in our lives. He was a friend and a true patriot.
