I met Tom at Cal Poly during my freshman year. As Karen said, all the girls found him "dreamy" is quite the understatement, at least in my group of friends. I considered him to be a very good friend. He was incredibly charming, and as someone else said, he always looked you in the eyes as he gave you his undivided attention. After being out of touch with him for many years, I was heartbroken to find his obituary, so almost 10 years after his passing, I am mourning him tonight. I'm sure SLO has not been the same without him.

I met Tom while we were both visiting Aspen, Colorado. I am going back to Colorado soon and was thinking about him. I looked him up and found this obituary. I am so sad to hear he is gone. For the brief time that I knew him he was always so sweet. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends that knew him well.

It means a lot to know that Tom had so many good friends in San Luis!

I was fortunate to become friends with Tom while working together at Brubeck's and Spike's. His charm, wit, and gentleness will forever be embedded in my mind and forever missed in my heart.

You were always there during the good times and the tough times. I could always count on you to share a beer and a long walk. The world has lost a kind, gentle and giving man. You are going to be missed in the SLO community and by all the people you touched in your much too short life. Especially me.
Je t'áime, pour toujour.
God bless you Tom.

Everyone knew Tom. He was a part of SLO and it was evident how much he loved this town. Many of us move away, visit and even move back and one can count on seeing Tom around town. I was always amazed at how he remembered everyone, he was just a nice guy. When I started Cal Poly he was an Upper Classman and all the Girls found him rather "dreamy" and hoped all college guys might look like him. I didn't know him well back then but over the years knew a bit more about him and all he did for those in his life. My heart goes out to his loved ones, it is never easy.

I,m one of those locals that had known Tom for years. I started working in the restaurant industry back in 1982 and thats how we crossed paths.Tom had a great memory in remembering my wifes name and always asked how she was. I sold beer to him at Spikes and was always impressed with his knowledge in history, processes, and facts about beer and brewing. He really was a pleasant geniune guy who always looked you in the eye and said hi.I consider him a part of downtown slo history, and to the very end he had a smile on his face.
