Dear Clancy Childs' Family,

We are saddened by the news of the loss of a grand friend who not only did we enjoy his friendship, but we also enjoyed the way he handled our insurance needs.

My wife, Wilma, took our children over to the Clancy and Beth Childs' home for Nancy to give our children swimming lessons. They had a swimming pool in their back yard. Good Memories, Nancy.

Due to other pressing matters we cannot attend the service and reception at the Church. We have you in our prayers and thoughts.

...

Thank you for sharing one of the finest, Clancy Childs.

Best personal regards,

Dan and Wilma Humason

Clancy was a very special man. He was a gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor. He raised four wonderful children who have the same integrity and honesty and are caring and loving as he was. Clancy was always there for his sisters advising them when asked and entertaining them with funny stories and beautiful letters. It was an honor and a pleasure to have him as my uncle. He is missed. Love to you, Clancy.

Found among Clancy's things--he typed in 1992 after Beth's death:
About 3:00 AM August 13 I was gently awakened as if being given a peek into heaven. I saw a huge wall-less room very brightly lighted, but not objectionable. There were many faces of persons I did not recognize, but all were smiling and seemingly witnessing an important ceremony. Off to the left sat Beth (Mom) smiling and looking more beautiful than ever. The room was filled with much love and happiness. Between her and others something on the misty floor glowed with great intensity, and finally dimmed. Then the entire scene disappeared as if that peek was all I was entitled to have . I felt calm and happy. As much as I tried, the vision hasn't returned. I believe Beth safely arrived and that we would meet again. Dad

Poppy (Clancy) was the greatest grandfather; no offense to all the other grandfathers in the world. His quick golf cart and even quicker wit kept us smiling from ear to ear. I only hope to eventually be as great a person as my grandfather, Poppy.

September brought tears of joy,
October tears of sorrow;
I guess I have to wait a day,
to see what tears fall tomorrow.

We love you Poppy and we'll always miss you.
