I knew Dr. Watson many years ago; he was a year or two ahead of me in neurology residency at UCSD in the 1980s. I remember him as a great teacher and doctor; he had a particular interest in EEGs at the time. We lost touch years ago. Last night out of the blue I had a dream about him. I don't remember much of the details about the dream, except that I remember exclaiming "Dave--haven't seen you in so long!" and went to try to hug him. This prompted me today to google him, and I was so shocked to find that he died years ago. I don't know if anybody will see this so many years after his death, but I would like the family to know that he still lives on in memories today.

The last time I seen Dr. Watson was in 1999. I had been a patient of his for quite sometime up till then. He was such a great person first and Dr. Thank you, you are in the Lord's hands now and my prayers are with your family!

The shock and sorrow that I am feeling today are beyond description. I first met Dr. Watson in early 1989. I was in the hospital in SLO, having just delivered my only child, and gravely ill. My life was literally hanging in the balance. Enter Dr. Watson, who was new to the area and looked too young to be saving lives. He did just that for me, and then over the next 3 years brought me back to health with a renewed quality of life.

I kept in touch every few years, driving down a few times for a spinal tap and to catch up. I felt safe and secure knowing he was always there for me, eager to help and reassure me.

I called his office yesterday, to share some exciting news with Dr. Watson, that after 15 years I may finally be cured of cocci-meningitis. The resulting news of his death has devastated my entire family. We all feel he was an amazing man and a true healer, and offer our heart-felt sympathy to his family. I wish I had known sooner, but hope my thoughts and prayers will still get to you. I feel blessed to have known David Watson.

Thank you to all who have so lovingly supported us as a family during a most difficult period. We have been sustained by your prayers and outpouring of care. I have printed out all messages in this guest book to share with the children as they grow so they can know and remember the degree to which their daddy touched so many people's lives in so many different ways...
In Christ's love,

I have just been given the sad news of Dr. Watson's passing. Having been a patient of his for several years I had grown to admire this man. His son played on the same basketball team last year as my son and seeing him enjoying that activity as a family made me admire him even more. I pray today for his family and children. Peace be with you all.

I first saw Dr. Watson in 1999. I found him to be a kind, patient man who truly cared for his patients. I have a special need and he worked closely with me to make me as comfortable as possible during testing procedures. I was blessed to have him as my physician. He truly seemed to understand my level of pain and discomfort, and took measures to help me deal with it. I am deeply saddened by his loss. I will miss him and the wonderful care that he provided. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time. I’m sure that God will bless him for his great willingness to help others.

My memories of David Watson are of him as a father taking his children to my grandson's birthday parties over the few years I knew him.
He was the man in the straw hat with a friendly smile & the wiggley black Lab named Penny, a gazelle of a wife who could juggle, a tall quiet son, Blaise, so much like his father, Lily & Bella with their colorfull chalk drawings & sense of fun, & my grandson's favorite buddy Strow!
With deepest sympathy,
(John-Connor Ruggiero's Nana)

I did not know David that well, but what I did know well was that he made Suzanne, my very good friend, very happy. They had a beautiful family together, and I was so saddened to hear the news of her loss. Each time I saw David, he was so kind and caring and so easy to talk with, and we knew we shared one very important thing in common -- that we cared a ton about someone we both loved, Suzanne. My thoughts are with the family in these very difficult times.

It was with disbelief, great shock and sadness that I learned of David's passing. Dave was one of the brightest and warmest people I have known. I think of times during residency that we would make one last check of the ER, then run on the beach, talking about the most diverse topics. He truly was a renaissance man, with great love for the arts, science, history, and most of all, people. Little things now trigger memories of him. He will be sorely missed. All of our thoughts and prayers go to Suzanne and children at this challenging time.
