It is not a common, but a very pleasant experience, having the privilege of working for a boss who was easy to like.

So sorry to hear about my good friend and former boss's passing. Don sure was a character, with always a good story to tell. He will be missed. Maryanne and family, you're in my prayers. Jann Wilson

A wonderful man of whom I felt privileged to know through my dear friend Mary Ann who married him. A loss of a very dear and nice man who brought much joy to Mary Ann and all who knew him. Blessings always. Flo Tartaglia

We loved this gentleman; his kindness, his stories, his beautiful poetry. Thank you for the wonderful conversations we have shared. We will miss you.

One of the finest and funniest men I have the privilege of calling a dear friend... >8-)

The Real Don King, RIP... Truly one of the finest and funniest men I've had the pleasure to call a dear friend. A true master of the "Prunedale Special"... The tennis serve he'd resort to when he HAD to win the point... He will always have a special place in my heart and soul as one of the "really cool" father figures in my life... >8-)

I worked for Don as a clerk form 1977-1979. He was a good boss. He seemed to always have a smile on his face. I remember he let us take half the day off during the holidays to do what ever we wanted. My condolences to the family.

My condolences to the family. I worked for Don from 1982 until his retirement in 1988. I met him through a mutual friend and I had no idea what Probation was. He hired me as a contract worker at the Juvenile Services Center and later full time. He was a very fair man and sure enjoyed a good story. He would join us in the lunch room to read the paper, tell a joke, talk about current events or what ever topic was of interest. He lived down the street from me and I often times would drive by his house and catch him outside and we would 'shoot the bull.' I will always appreciate that he gave me my first full time job out of college and that he believed in me. About a month before his passing, I had the pleasure of talking with him again when he surprisingly called me one evening. We hadn't talked with one another in over twenty five years, but you wouldn't have known it. Quite a character and a great human being. He made a difference in this world and I am sure he will be missed by family and friends.

I am very sad to hear of Don's passing. He was the best neighbor anyone could want. I have so many good memories of the kind things he did for me and my family. He will certainly be missed. Heaven is a better place with Don there. Love, Bob and Claudia

Stacey,

Your dad was a good neighbor. He did a lot of fine things for this city. Glad we got to know him.
