Dear family, when I think of my favorite teachers, I think of Mr. O'Connor. He challenged us and inspired us to stretch our abilities. He made a great impact in my life. Bless the O'Connor clan.

Whenever I am asked who my favorite teacher was, it is always Mr O'Connor. I had him in 5th and 6th grades at Morro Elementary and what I remember most about him was when he gave me an F on a history project. I started crying in class and he pulled me aside and told me, "you can do so much better than this!" And he was right! He was a great encourager and really understood his students well. I love reading how much he influenced other lives too. Thank you, Mr. O'Connor, for your powerful influence in my life!

I never met Don, but I am good friends with his son, Dan. Don's loving and considerate parenting is reflected in Dan's fine character. My thoughts are with your family during this hard time.

He was my 6th grade teacher at Morro Elementary! I was involved in a car accident with my family that year and had to spend a couple weeks in isolation at the old General Hospital. He was my tutor for that time so I could keep up with the class. He was a very caring man and it meant a lot to me to see him when he came in, even though he was giving me homework. At 11 years old, since I could not have many visitors, his visits were a true blessing! I have thought of him many times over the years. He will be missed.

I worked with Don at Morro Bay Jr./Sr. High School in the early 70's. He was so nice and supportive to me as a new teacher. I will remember him fondly as a kind and generous man. Condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed.

Mr. O'Connor was my counselor at Los Osos Junior High from 1977-1979. He was the nicest and most understanding of all of the faculty members. My sincerest condolences to his family.

I was privileged to know Don O'Conner when my daughters attended the Los Osos Middle School. I can see him in my mind's eye on St. Patrick's day..dressed to the nines in green with a top hat. Today is the feast of St. Brigid, co patron of Ireland with St. Patrick and she prayed that God would have a lake of beer in heaven where we could all tipple together and dance. I'm sure Don is dancing a jig in heaven with her right now. I'll be at the rosary and his memorial. Thankful for this great gentle giant. Carol Valine Zarek

Betty, Daniel, Gregory, you know that we are saddened by Don's passing. He was a good friend, and always with a smile. He is now on the greatest adventure of his lifetime. We wish his spirit, and all of you, the best. Jack, Eunice Pierce

Dear O'Connor family, Thank you for sharing Don with us all. I treasure our years together at Los Osos Junior High and before that at Morro Bay. What a remarkable man, friend, counselor and friend to all. And yes - a man of the greatest integrity. May he rest in well earned eternal peace. Blessings and deepest comdolences to you, his family, and all those who dearely loved him.

I had the good fortune of working with Don at Morro Bay Jr./Sr High School and at Los Osos Jr. High School. What a wonderful experience it was for me to have such a dedicated, student oriented, professional as a colleague. His kind compassionate and thoughtful manner was always in evidence in his work with students, teachers, and parents. As his Assistant Principal at MBJr./Sr.HS and his Principal at Los Osos Jr. Hi and/fellow carpooler to and from school I always valued his contributions as they were very well reasoned and in support of the best interests of our students. Liz and I extend our most sincere condolences to Betty and the entire O'connor family. Jim and Liz Renzi
