You were a inspiration and a dear friend to me, you invited me to watch you play with your band and gave me life lessons at Hawthorne Elementary. Because of you I want to be a Special Education teacher and work with kids and graduate from college as a Recreation Management Major.
Thank you for everything you have done for me and may you be happy and healthy in heaven.

Sincerely Hunter Jones

Mr. Gyselbrecht, this is Eric Steiger, I was lucky enough to have you as my math teacher in the 8th grade, circa 2005. For being ten years, it sure seems like yesterday. Earlier this year my mom, Rachelle, forwarded an E-Mail you had sent discussing what you were going through and asking to see what your past students had been up to. I found that so cool and really wanted to tell you EVERYTHING about how your influence on my naive and sponge-like mind significantly helped to make me who I am today. However, with all I wanted to say I could not get it to you soon enough. I'm grateful to have this resource to try and finally let you know.
In middle school you taught me that math indeed wasn't the easiest or most fun subject but that it was imperative to being successful in school and life. Not only did your teaching methods help me to understand the subject, they enabled me to see the importance in doing things that need to be done no matter what, if you want to excel in life. I was so inspired by you that my reclusive pre-teen self signed up for the extra curricular group called "Leadership" where us students would meet to plan school activities and community service events. You were our mentor and helped us to become leaders by teaching ways to look ahead and anticipate the unexpected. I've carried those values with me since; through high school from late 2005 to 2009 and into college at Cal Poly from 2009 to 2013. Along the way I pursued my interests and always put all I had into them, thus enabling me to become a member of the SLO County Fire Department, Company 21 at the airport and also working at night for a AAA towing agency. With the activities we organized in leadership, from school dances to game days at senior living homes, I truly understood and felt the value in hard work for another's behalf. Since graduating in 2013 with a degree in Agricultural Systems Management, I left my home town of SLO along with my dream path of Fire Fighting to pursue a career related to my major. I have been living and working in Yuba City, CA which is night and day compared to SLO. It's been one of the toughest changes I've ever dealt with in all aspects. I am now the Production Manager of the company I started with, building custom orchard harvesting equipment; also known as "tree shakers." Every day I resort to a form of management that stemmed from my days in Leadership with you. Thank you for everything, I will never forget you and am eternally grateful for all that you gave me.

Love,
Eric
