1940 ~ 2012 Lynn Gardner Murray's big and generous heart over a 72-year lifetime finally gave in to a rare disease, and she died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, in San Luis Obispo. A daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Lynn was born in Columbus, Ohio, but lived her formative years in Athens, Ohio, where she graduated from Ohio University, the oldest campus in the original Northwest Territory. There, on a blind date, she met the guy she would marry and spend the next 51 and a half years with as they pursued their dreams in Wyoming, Georgia, New Jersey, West Virginia, Minnesota, Ohio, Australia, and finally, permanently, in San Luis Obispo in 1977, with a year in China squeezed into this latter 35-year run. Lynn was a registered dietitian, having interned at St. Paul Ramsey Hospital in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. She was an avid gardener, as her maiden name suggests, and served for three decades as a member or chair of the Landscape Committee for the homeowners of Los Verdes Park 1. She dug her own dirt in a community plot on Laurel Lane. She was a consecrated Bible student and a dedicated member of the local Bible class. Lynn is survived by her husband, Randall of San Luis Obispo; son, Scott (Cheryl) of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter, Margaret Murray Holman (Chris) of Sioux City, Iowa; four grandchildren, Michael and Krista Murray and Connor and Hiatt Holman; great-grandson, Steven Murray; sister, Rollin Gardner Mateosian of Closter, N.J., and brother, Robbin Gardner of Lancaster, Ohio. At her request, no services are planned. Donations in Lynn''s memory may be made to the Bible Class of San Luis Obispo, c/o Mark Allard, 637 Shamrock Lane, Pismo Beach, CA 93449; the Amyloidosis Foundation, Inc., 7151 N. Main St. Ste. 2, Clarkston, MI 48346; or those who wish to honor her may send flowers to someone living or donate to their own favorite charity.

Dearest Randy, Margaret and Scott,
This is such a loss to our world. Lynn always had a bubbly, positive spirit and the beautiful smile on her face. You will always hold a special place in my heart as influences in my formative years. I am so glad I ran into Lynn (and Randy) this summer to give a hug and a brief catch-up. I am glad to be reconnecting with Margaret too. I know Lynn is having a great time in heaven, because she always made a place heavenly with her presence. Bless you and your family!!

Dear Randy and family,
You are in my thoughts and prayers as you celebrate Lynn's life. She was always positive and uplifting when I had the opportunity to work with her as an RD. Her many contributions will live on.
