My dearest Mary Eleanor, family and loved ones. The news of your passing came to me a bit late, but had no less impact to my life and memories shared with you. I was just a youngster growing up, when we were first to meet and begin interacting within family gatherings. Of those family gatherings I will admit,a bit shyly, that your presence and loving attention has often been recalled as my earliest and fondest of memories. I remember siting on your lap, laughing and eating till the next Sunday meal...they seemed to run on all day. Your sweet kindness has become my self identity in that sense. I learned to find compassion for others, when I would not even think of it. It was with your patience I learned the St. Francis Prayer....Lord, Grant that I may seek rather to Comfort- than to be Comforted, To understand- than to be understood, to love rather than to be loved......Oh how fortunate I was to know that sincerity and kindness from you, and to learn that it is not for me to hold, but a gift for me to pass on. For that and for all your patience and wisdom, I am forever gratefully blessed. My sincere love and wishes of serenity to your children and family, may the grace you taught me be my gift for all to see you in me, for my gratitude. Lovingly, little Larry

Mary, Ed and Jack: I was privileged to meet and enjoy your Mom. She was such a sweet and loving lady. I will never forget enjoying her home made pasta that she sent to Mary while she interned for Millicent Fenwick in D.C. I was fortunate enough to be Mary's roommate and fellow diner. There were so many time at the Cal Poly PAC when I would arrive and immediately search the crowd for Mary and Mary. So many times we would greet each other before a wonderful performance. Rest Well Mrs. Harris you have done well and sheparded a wonderful family on this planet. You are now in the loving arms of your Ed once again. My heart felt sympathies to the entire Harris family.

Mary Harris Senior, was the most fabulous woman ever! She was my favorite teaching pal and brought joy to 1,000s of students in San Luis Obispo, for so many years! Her wit, humor and love of children was passed on to all of her children and grandchildren. I am so lucky to know the Harris family because of YOUR AMAZING MOM! Barbara Blanke

Dear Mary, Jack, Ed, and Mary's beloved grandchildren.
Mary was a special gift to so many of us in the teaching profession. Her delicious chicken soup, quietly left on my door step after a day of substituting for me is a cherished memory of her graceful giving heart. Sending each of you loving thoughts of your amazing Mother and Nonna
