She changed my life as well as saved it. I have boxes of letters from her to re-read and for that I am deeply grateful. I've rarely loved anyone the way that I loved her... it was she who re-christened me as 'Quince' as well. Life will never be the same without her in it.

So sorry to hear of your passing, Isaacs. Haven't seen you since 1979, but I thought of you often. You always seemed to know when Landrum and I were up to shenanigans, but somehow seemed to tolerate us, and still teach me something. May you rest in peace, dear lady. Fair winds and following seas.

Pie makes a delicious breakfast, walking the beach shrouded in fog can be even more beautiful than on a sunny day, loving the people who love you back, and realizing when you've had, "enough", are just a few of the many life lessons I learned from my Mom, MIB. Thanks for all the wonderful, kind and thought-filled messages from everyone-blessings to all.

Her spirit lives on in each of us...

Mrs.Fiala. She was a wonderful mentor and example of how to take life by the horns and live it. I recently wrote a letter to her at the long-term care home she was staying in, and she sent me back a delightful 5-page letter full of her personality and life. She will be greatly missed.....and I pray for peace and comfort for her family members who must be missing her dreadfully.

I believe it was fall 1968 8th grade English my first meeting of who at that time was known as Fiala. She melted my heart from the very first day. You would know she was in tuned to you when she would look over her half glasses and bat her blue eyes at you. So much more than a teacher and a mentor, she was your friend. We were so blessed to find that she was following our class to AHS. Thank you my friend for the impact you had and will continue to have for the rest of my life. I know the brightest star is you...until we meet again!

Isaac was so much more than just a teacher... It seems many of us are remembering that about Isaac as we sign this memorial guest book. Just a month before she died, I received a letter from Isaac and she was just as witty, spunky, creative, visionary, and loving, as she always was. What a shining spirit and beautiful soul she was. Boy are we lucky to have known Isaac and had her as a teacher, mentor and close friend.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Mary's passing. I had the pleasure of working with her at AHS. She was a dedicated mother, a mentor to many, an extraordinary educator, an inspiration to her students, a fabulously funny lady, a lover of language and literature and one of the most engaged, caring people I have ever known. She will be sorely missed. Please accept my deepest condolences.
