Dick and I grew up together. He was my only cousin and I loved him dearly. We were the same age. He used to stay with my family on the farm in Riverdale, Ca. in the summer time. I, then would live with his parents in the summer at the beach house in Corona Del Mar. We were family! I sang at his wedding to Sherry. His Cousin, Corine

As the father of PRHS band students, Dick was an enthusiastic supporter, a tireless chaperone and a pillar of the Band Boosters for many years. You loved your kids, and you loved your community.

Dick was an awesome person, A more caring individual you would never meet. I worked with him doing bookkeeping for his plumbing business and for years at the city pool with adapted aquatics and lifeguarding and teaching. He will be missed. He was a good friend.

Dick gave me my first paying job that wasn't babysitting. He taught me simple bookkeeping that I did for his plumbing business. I went on to work with him at the city pool for many years after that, both with adapted aquatics and regular lifeguarding and teaching. He was a wonderful man and a terrific friend.

Richard Smith will always have a special place in my heart. He was an incredibly patient, understanding and giving man. During adaptive aquatics, he worked tirelessly with disabled children. He is more than honorable. He was a saint among men, and will not be forgotten.

Dick was one of the earliest friends we made in Paso Robles when we retired from the AF with two teenagers and a pre-teen. He taught our girls to lifeguard, give the handicapped lessons, made his friends our friends and also added one of his lovely samoyed puppies to our family. He definitely was a joy & a blessing in our lives.

Dick taught adaptive aquatics to my daughter Sara and her sister Heather learned to swim at the same time. That was nearly 30 years ago! I will remember the great 4th of July swim parties at his home with all the "kids" , some in wheel chairs, enjoying the food, especially the banana splits! We ended the day with a little fireworks display. Nothing but smiles when I think of those times and his dedication to our "disabled dolphins"! RIP Dick! Nancy, Sara, Heather, and Lisa
