Richard “Dick” Lofink SARATOGA SPRINGS - Richard “Dick” Lofink, 74, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 6, 2017 at his home in Daytona Beach, FL. Richard was born in Albany, New York on July 11, 1943. Dick was the son of the late William and Elaine Lofink. He was also predeceased by his brother William Lofink and his wife of 50 years, Henrietta (Etta) Lofink. Dick graduated from Cohoes High School in 1960 before joining the US Navy where he proudly served as a Seaman. Dick married Etta in 1966 and resided in Cohoes, NY before moving to Saratoga Springs 43 years ago to raise their three children. Dick worked for over 35 years as a Teamster, driving over one million miles in his career. No matter the miles between him and his family, he stood as the rock. He never missed a baseball or football game, a dance recital, a bowling match or a ski trip. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. In retirement, Dick and his wife, Etta, enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren. They also loved to spend countless hours by their pool or at the beach. Winters were spent in Florida and summers in Saratoga Springs. Dick was an avid Yankee fan. He enjoyed going to spring training in Tampa, FL and attending live games at Yankee Stadium. Dick is survived by his three children Tracey (John) Bucher of Syracuse NY, Richard (Leanne) Lofink of Wilton, NY and Michael ( Heather) Lofink of Ballston Spa NY; seven grandchildren, Shannon and Logan Bucher, Cole Galvin, M.J. and Dylan Lofink, Ella and Evan Lofink; his brother, Paul (Donna) Lofink of Johnsonville NY; a niece and a nephew. To the Lofink Family, We knew your Mom and Dad as neighbors in Florida for a short period of time. Your Mom had a terrific laugh and your Dad a sharp wit, a man with a kind heart. This last October we over lapped in Fl. for a while due to the flood, he was at a loss without your Mom and poured his heart out to us. She use to do most of the talking but now he just went on and on about all the wonderful things in their life together. He was very proud of his kids and talked about the grandchildren and his plan for his car going to a granddaughter. He did look forward to his son coming for a visit in Nov. and then going home for Christmas. We went out to eat one night together and he told us how he and Etta bought the place in Florida, Etta was the brains behind it. We came back to Illinois early but spoke to him on the phone on the Friday before he passed. We will miss him as a neighbor when we return. We are sorry for your loss.
