Betty R. Whalen, 86, of Shenandoah, passed away Monday, July 1, at Ridgeview Health & Rehabilitation, Shenandoah Heights.
She was born in Shenandoah, Sept. 8, 1932, to the late William and Ruth Ecker Guers.
Betty worked at Shenandoah Manor Nursing Center for many years in the laundry department.
She liked to collect dolls, angels and various other knick-knacks. She also enjoyed traveling in her younger years. Betty leaves us with her favorite saying, "God be with you till we meet again."
Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Whalen, and also a son, Francis Whalen.
Surviving are her cousin and caregiver, Carol K. Wesolowski, of South Carolina; her dear friend, Irene Lewandowski; cousins and friends, and her faithful companion, her dog, Sweet Pea.
Scripture services will be held at noon Friday, July 5, at Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc., 40 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah, with Pastor Mindy Heppe officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
