Now it is 2024 and I do hope John´s family are living life the Morrison way as he would have wished. I think of you from time to time and just recently as my son Roger came to visit and again I have had the family tree out to draw up again. If you are ever interested in our Donald (married Catherine McDonald of Vallaqui 1771) and Murdock Morrison (Macdhom Hnaill Muurghaidh born 1771 Clachlan Shannda Tacksman of Orinsay Residence at Ahmore married Mary McLean Maclain Eachann born 12.11.1785 Clachlan. Son Donald b.1814 emigrated to Tasmania (my great great grandfather); our family links to Clachlan Sanda. Joanne Garton, now living in Eden Far South Sapphire Coast, NSW. My enduring wishes for peace and blessings to the family always. I would be grateful of knowledge about your return to North Uist and celebration of John´s life.

I have only just now learnt of Ru being the Chief of the Morrison Clan in November 2018's Scottish Field article online. I wanted to contact Ru to let him know my x 5 grandfather was Donald Morrison born at Clachlan Shannda and married Catherine McDonald of Vallequi in 1771. Their son Murdock (Macdhom Hnaill Mhurghaidh - son of Donald Son of Murdock) was born in the same year in Clachlan Shannda. His son Donald is my great grandfather and is buried here in Tasmania to where he emigrated in 1844. I had so much to talk about with Ru as I have also visited Clachlan and the western isles and so I looked up Ru and to my sorrow I find I am too late. I am certain we have strong ties going back forever perhaps and I want to send my deep sympathy to all of Ru's family and mourners. A man alive in spirit in my mind and heart. Thank you for your role of of Chief and find peace forever more on the beautiful Isle of North Uist. Home by blood.
