My sincere condolences at the death of Amby, My
husband was Cletus Scherer, and they were very close friends. They were both pranksters, as you perhaps know. A little story:

Cletus owned a bar and dance hall on Hiway 101 near Osseo. One afternoon the door opened and
Amby and another fellow came in carrying a very
LONG cross-cut saw. They announced they were there to cut the bar in two, and acted as if they meant it. Of course, Cletus had some choice words for Ambie and friend.
When they stopped laughing, along with the other patrons..they had a few bumps and reminisced a lot..they had worked at Scherer
Bros Lumber Yard before they were drafted into
service during WWII. Cletus served in the Italian Campaign, being wounded badly in May of 1944. When they returned, both went back to work at the lumber yard, but Ambie wanted to farm. so left...Cletus went on to work there for
about 20 years.

Whenever Cletus would visit Ambie at the farm, the jug would come out and they had a couple of 'bumps' of moon.. Cletus always saying 'Gut' while making a grimacing face. They enjoyed
each other very much.

A life well lived..may he rest in peace. Sorry,
I was unable to attend the funeral.

My favorite memory of Uncle Andy is he was one of the best story tellers around and he also had a wonderful sense of humor. Still remember the bat story--the flying bat that is. He will be remembered for all the joy he brought to others. My love & condolences to his family.
