Uncle Leonard was both my uncle and my godfather. He and his wife Lydie were like second parents to me. Growing up in the same town, our families were close and many of my fondest childhood memories were of our times together. Priceless! He served honorably in WWII with his brother (my dad) as they fought in Africa and Italy. Those two were practically inseparable, even in retirement. Although they never talked about the war, Uncle Leonard was a godsend for my dad when my own mom passed away. They spent a lot of time together working on projects, and Dad loved it when Lydie made her tasty sauerkraut and ribs! I'm so thankful for Leonard and Lydie's love and care to our family in the toughest of times and their fun and laughter in the best of times. I will never forget you, Uncle Leonard. I was blessed to be part of your extended (but close) family. Thank you for being a great uncle with a great family!
