I just found out and I don't where to begin. I'm deeply saddened by the loss of my Top Chop Bud. I've been friends with Rick since 1979 when he worked at Roeffler on the east side of St. Cloud. I had a big Fro that he knew how to chop. I chased Rick around St. Cloud for the next 36+ years. He must have cut my hair over 100 times. I remember when Ricky was born, how proud he was. The challenges he went through in the 80's, 90's, 00s, and so on. His health and personal battles beat up on his body and mind at times, but never his kind, gentle spirit. He was super proud of his granddaughter and the bond they shared. He was thrilled over his new daughter-in-law, Julia, which he told me he loved as if she was his own daughter. He adored Julia and the life she is crafting with his son and granddaughter. You could see the excitement in his eyes and feel the happiness in his heart when he spoke of all of you.
I loved talking to Rick about Sturgis. He was proud of the pictures he took when he went out there during bike week. I regret not being able to ride with him out there, but his diabetes kinda crushed that dream. But if there's Harley's in heaven, know that my friend is riding free with the wind blowing through his golden hair and singing one of crazy Barber Shop Quartet Songs..RIP Brother!

We'll miss Rick's warm smile and gentle spirit. His kindness and love toward others will always be remembered.

Take comfort in God's promise that we will see our friend and brother again. Until then, we'll honor Rick's memory by sharing God's love with others, just as Rick did so wonderfully!

I'm not sure I will be able to attend the visitation or Memorial service on Friday so I wanted to say a few words here. I only got to know Rick these past 4-5 months bringing in my Mother in law for her hair each Saturday morning. She loved Rick & his generosity & care towards her, as did I for the same of course. But we also had a bond due to the fact that we both graduated from Apollo. He was closer in age to my two older brothers, both of whom he knew & remembered. We both were also involved in music & loved to sing. We had many mutual friends & other similar interests, esp our love for our Lord. So know that he is in a much better place @ this time & he knew where he was going. Funny, we had a good discussion about this & the upcoming election on that last Saturday that we met with him. Please know that he was a fine man & loved you, his son & his family very much. He talked about them often. God gained an Angel the day we lost him. God speed to you! Jill K.
