I stopped by the Krebs household one summer day, chatted for a bit, and said I needed to get going to hit Wegmans. Sam said he hadn't been to the new Wegmans yet. I asked if he wanted to go with me, and he said yes. I'm guessing this was around 06 or 07. We were touring near the butcher and Sam started admiring the great big (expensive) steaks. I agreed that they looked really good. Sam said he didn't get to eat steak much (pulling my leg), and the butcher said I should buy my son a steak. I told the butcher he wasn't my son, and Sam jumped on that; he leaped back in shock and disappointment, "Mom!" I was dumbfounded, but he persisted, "Mom, stop it." And looking at the butcher said, "She does this to me all the time. I think I embarrass her." I protested, and the butcher jumped to Sam's rescue, and demanded why I would disown such a fine fellow. This back and forth went on, we were all laughing, but it was clear the butcher thought we were just a fun mother and son. Finally just to stop the jollity, I bought the damned $20 steak for Sam. Throughout the rest of our shopping we laughed about his impersonation as my son - and he continued to try to persuade me to by him more food. I guess you all just didn't feed that poor kid enough, Karlin & Eric!! He was so fun!
