Benedict (Ben) Gorecki, age 87, of Milaca, passed away at his home in Milaca on Saturday, July 9, 2016. Christian burial will be held Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Milaca with Father Jim Remmerswaal officiating. Visitation will be 9-11 am at the church before Mass on Saturday, July 16, 2016. Interment will be at St. Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery, Brennyville, Mn.
Ben was born on October 3, 1928 to Felix and Mary (Jedlicki) Gorecki in Sauk Rapids, Mn. Ben graduated from Foley High School in 1945. He married Dorothy Marion in Williston, ND, on February 14, 1952. Ben and Dorothy were blessed with five children, Barbara, Steven, Linda, Sandra, and Mary.
In 1953, Ben and his family moved to Grand Forks, ND with plans for Ben to attend the University of North Dakota (UND). In 1958, and four children later, Ben was able to pursue his college plans, going to school days and working nights at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. Ben graduated from UND in 1963 with Electrical Engineer and Business Administration degrees.
In 1967, Ben, Dorothy, and their children moved to Milaca, Mn. Gorecki Manufacturing Inc. was started and is still in operation, Forty-nine years later.
Ben will be remembered as Milaca theatre owner for 23 years. He loved his side-line business as it was a change of pace for him. He saw most of the shows and loved the many patrons that he served through the years.
Ben was a member of Knights of Columbus and Eagles Aerie 612- St. Cloud.
Ben was a compassionate man, a thinker, and always looking for new challenges. He loved life, his family, and friends. He loved to play Cribbage, Five Hundred, Rummy games, Widow Whist, and Farkel. He was always ready to play and very competitive. He will be deeply missed.
Ben is survived by his wife, Dorothy, daughters, Barbara Gorecki and Linda (Ray) Locher. Sister, Mary Ann (Charles) Winkelman. Grandchildren, Jerome, Jonathan, Jeffrey, Carrie, Tony, Brad, and Victoria. Great Grandchildren, Judd, Nora, and Sawyer.
Ben will be greeted in heaven by his children, Steven, Sandra, and Mary, infant grandson, Joseph Gorecki, and Father and Mother, Felix and Mary Gorecki.

What a terrible loss! Ben was a wonderful, lovely man...smart, funny, compassionate and humble. We always looked forward to his and Dorothy's arrival in Naples during the winter. He will certainly be missed by all his FL neighbors. Our hearts go out to Dorothy and family.
