Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville for Wilfred W. "Bill" Braun, age 95 of Paynesville who passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the Centra Care Health Paynesville Hospital. Reverend Glenn Krystosek will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Anthony's Parish Cemetery, Regal.
Family and friends may call after 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the church. Catholic United Financial will pray a rosary at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements were made by the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home, Paynesville.
Bill was born October 13, 1920 in Lake Henry Township, Minnesota the eighth of "five and half dozen" children to Christian and Susan (Pung) Braun. Bill graduated from Belgrade High School in 1938. Bill married Joanne M. Kollar on October 19, 1968 at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Northeast Minneapolis. The couple owned and operated the Lake Henry Bar and Ballroom until retiring in 1981. He was a member of the St. Joseph Society in Lake Henry, Catholic United Financial, former Grand Knight and a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Louis Council #3820. Bill was also a member of St. Louis Parish where he served as an adult altar server, lector and Eucharistic minister.
Bill really enjoyed yearly deer hunting trips in Northern Minnesota, ice fishing, especially spearing, goose hunting, lawn work, splitting wood, watching and feeding birds and chasing squirrels from the feeders.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne; sisters, Olivia Fawcett of Phoenix, Arizona; sister-in-law, Dolores Braun of Paynesville; special nephew, Eugene (Mary) Bierschbach of Clearwater; many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, Norbert, Henry, Leander and Gerald; sisters, Edith, Aurelia Bierschbach, Thecla Narcisse, Mildred Wazlawik and Hilda Fochs.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
