Dan Peterson served as the President of the Seattle Community College Federation of Teachers Local 1789, leading the faculty union from 1983-1985. His signature is in our negotiated contract for that period of time. Colleagues describe him as generous, fun & funny, outspoken, and gentlemanly. He mentored new faculty and advocated for respect and professionalism. With gratitude and condolences to Dan's family, from the leadership and members of Local 1789

Dan and I were raised in the Grand Coulee Dam Area. I graduated from Grand Coulee HS in 1948 (A year after Dan graduated from Mason City High School). We were opposing quarterbacks of our respective teams and competed in other sports over the years. Danny was an outstanding individual and citizen and a wonderful person to know outside of sports activities. His father was the minister of the Coulee Dam community church and I knew him well. His father was the religious leader of our local DeMolay chapter. I will long remember Danny and have tried to keep up with his life through mutual friends. Farewell to this great individual who was raised in a great time of our lives. We were only 11/2 months apart in age. I am sure he was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. I know he is in heaven now and missed immensely by his family.
Best wishes to the family and God Bless YOU,
Les Filion
