Ms. Blair was responsible for my lifetime career as a writer! She was my English teacher at King's High School in Seattle WA and she was always very encouraging. In 1962 she sent one of the short stories I wrote for her class to the Scholastic Magazine Writing and Art Awards contest--and to everyone's surprise, it won First Place for the Short Story! That same story ("The Sacrifice" by Neta Thiessen) was later reprinted in a book called DISCOVERY, which was a collection of the "best of the best" from the Scholastic Awards. With that amazing encouragement, I decided I wanted to be a writer! With the prize money, I bought a portable typewriter and headed for college . . . and the rest, as they say, is history. THANK YOU, Ms. Blair, for believing in me when I was only 17!

I was a student of Miss Blair at King's Garden High School, graduating in 1963.
She was our class advisor for our senior year. My condolences to the family.
