This is Alex in Nirvana - kneedeep in a stream, about to release a lunker trout. I think of him as I first encountered him at BBD&O, with his feet up on his desk, leafing through Hemmings Motor News. A wonderful sense of whimsy, a wide-ranging curiosity about many things, and an altogether charming man. Also, a pretty good harmonica player. Lots of us will miss him.

An honor to have known Alex, the older brother of my dear friends. "Big" brother in all he did especially in his exquisite kindness.

My deepest condolences for your family. Alex lives on in all your hearts. Amy Jo Birkenes

It didn't take a lifetime of friendship to love and respect Alex. All it took was family. We understood his passion, commitment and outspoken support for the things important to him and his family.
He suffered bravely and graciously throughout his illness, always caring about his family.
It was an honor knowing Alex. We all will miss his laugh and mischevious look in his eyes.
