David was a good and life-long friend. He was a very talented artist with a zest for life. We met in San Francisco in the early 60s as I had a store on Grant Avenue and we lived with our families in the North Beach area. He was kind enough to bring his dog named Hi to my store on a regular basis because my daughter Kenna and Hi were very good friends. We kept in touch all these years. My sincere condolences to his family.

I will always remember my cousin David with great love and admiration. He was more like a brother to me than a cousin. He had a wry and wonderful sense of humor and it was always fun to be with him.

I remember spending time with him when we were small children in Lafayette, CA where we played together constantly (once dodging a rattlesnake). And, when I lived in the Bay Area later in life, he took me under his wing and made sure that I was doing OK.

David's artistic talents and sense of humor always awed me. His stained glass work was
exquisite. His knowledge and intelligence always awed me, too. David's compassion and caring for others was beautiful. He was a one in a million person to be admired and loved by all.

I feel very fortunate to be able to have called him my cousin, even though he was more like a brother to me.

In 2016 he visited me in Illinois and we took a short trip to Delavan, WI to visit our mothers' hometown where many of our grandparents' belongings are housed in the Historical Society.

I will miss David very much, but knowing that he is no longer in physical pain is consoling.

David was one of our Best Self Group members and we all loved his kindness, humor, creativity and authenticity. He was appreciative about even the smallest of things and so generous, like the time he gave each of us (12!) a book he liked and learned from. Dear David, we all miss you.

Dave Arnold was a wonderful man, engaging rafting buddy and dear friend. He will be missed. Bill McGinnis
