Noreen Elizabeth Murphy
December 26, 2020
Noreen Elizabeth Murphy, 57, of Sonoma, passed away on December 26, 2020 after showing her strength, determination and ever present character and beautiful heart, as she always did. Noreen was loved and held when she passed away. Her strength was astounding and at the same time remained as sweet and generous as she always was. She will remain loved and admired for her strength, courage, and heart as she rests in peace.
Noreen is survived by her mother Betty, sister Sheila, brother Neil (Christy), sister Eileen (Wayne), niece Cassandra, nephews Patrick and Matthew (Godson), and her Aunts, Uncles, cousins and beloved friend Bill. Noreen was preceded by her father Cornelius.
Noreen was born in San Francisco, California in 1963 to Cornelius and Betty Murphy. She graduated from Mercy High School in San Francisco in 1982.
Noreen had several professional interests throughout her life. She attended Cosmetology School in San Mateo where she received her license, practiced Dental Assisting in Daly City, and served as a Communications Dispatcher for 12.5 years for the City and County of San Francisco. She received accommodations for her excellent and professional service in dealing with the public.
Noreen will be remembered as a loving, generous and fighting soul. Noreen's sense of humor was remarkable and enjoyed by all she touched. If you were a friend of Noreen's you were always her friend. In retirement Noreen enjoyed watching sports, attending Giants games, swimming in her pool, painting, online yoga, adaptive PE classes at SRJC, attending Church, and traveling around the county in her van stopping for her favorite DB drinks on the way home. She was active in the local MS Society in Sonoma County and gave generously to causes and programs she felt were in need of support.
Noreen was truly a special and feisty woman that touched many hearts and will be missed by all who came to know her.
Services will be held for Noreen at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma, CA in a private family service the week of January 11, 2021.

I have really funny memories of Noreen at holidays and when I visited with Grandma May. She was always there to talk around the table, cracking jokes and happy. Rest in peace Noreen. xoxo

I went! to Mercy High with Noreen and her sister. I recall they started Sophomore year from Danville, I think. Both darling girls! Noreen was so funny and sweet! I liked her immediately! I ran into her years ago and she shared her MS diagnosis, but was more interested in how I was...what a selfishness, adorable girl. I'm so sorry to her family, who must be broken hearted but you've got your Noreen still. She's in heaven and free!!

I first met Noreen when she was about 5. Her dad, who adored his first born, often brought her to the Juvenile Division, to see his co-workers. She was sweet, even then, though a bit shy. Her favorite thing was to have a mock mug shot taken, of her little self. Noreen would laugh, when she saw the photo, with a fake ID Number underneath.

Noreen was a delight to be around. When she started working as a SFPD dispatcher, you would often see her, on breaks, in the hallway. She had a very stressful job, but you would still see that smile, and likely get a hug. What an absolutely delightful woman she was.

To the Murphy family, I was so saddened to learn of Noreen’s passing. For Betty, I can only imagine how difficult it must be to lose your first born. My heart goes out to you, as it does to all of your family.

Rest In Peace, Noreen. Your memory will live on, forever.
