Mrs. T.A. Soong
(Ji Ing Woo)
Born in Shanghai, China-October 16, 1920 to Yun Chong Woo and E. Ching Shen. Her early education was in Shanghai, China.
She graduated from High School at Hong Kong French Convent in 1940 and graduated from UC Berkeley with Bachelor of Arts in History in 1944 and with a Master of Arts in Asian Studies in 1972. She also attended a Summer Seminar at Oxford University in 1975.
She married T.A. Soong in San Francisco Grace Cathedral on December 20, 1941. She leaves her loving sons, Ronald Soong (married to Sarah Wong) and Leo Soong (married to Shirley Tsao). Five grandchildren-Kirsten (from Ron and Sarah); and Katherine Jean, Shirley-May, Charles Frederick, and Abigail Elizabeth (from Leo and Shirley).
She participated in a 1930's Shanghai City diving competition and from 1970-1983 Co-founder, President and Director-Achievement Rewards for College Scientists Foundation (ARCS), N. California Chapter, from 1982-1988 Director, ARCS National Executive Board, from 1976-1984 Director-American Red Cross, Golden Gate Chapter, from 1983-1984 Chairperson for California State Special Olympics, N. California, from 1983-1987 Director, American Women for International Understanding. 1978-1991 Trustee, The World Affairs Council of Northern California. - Since 1989 Member of Connoisseurs Council of the SF Asian Art Museum. Since 1970 Member of Women's Committee for the International Industrial Conference, SF. - Since 1978 Member of the City of San Francisco Host Committee, Metropolitan Club of San Francisco, Membership committee. In 1970, established T.A. and Ji Ing Soong Gallery at the SF Asian Art Museum.
She will be buried in Mountain View Cemetery, Oakland.
