Thelma Irene Walker

Thelma Irene Walker passed away on September 23, 2020 at the age of 87. Thelma – or Lee as she was known to friends – was passionate about animals, and especially loved Doberman Pinschers. Having many of them in her lifetime, Thelma often showed her Dobies and was an active member of the Doberman Pinscher Club of Northern California. Thelma's witty sense of humor and no-nonsense personality made her stand out in a crowd. She cared for and was loved by all her friends. Thelma is survived by her granddaughter Leigh, great-granddaughter Jadyn, daughter-in-law Aliza and lifetime friend Renie. Thelma had a gruff exterior, but a heart of gold. I used to meet her at fort fundton with my Dobie Gryphon and walk with her and 'the pack' she knew almost all of the people and dogs on the trail. She would often shout--Dino don't eat that! Or tell people to clean up after their dogs. I did not see her as often after I moved away from SF, but cherish my memories of her. She had such a love and soft spot for Dobies--and helped me rescue several Dobermans from Lake county and I will be forever greatful for her support. Thelma, you were a really good person and will be forever missed. Love Jessica

Dear Thelma,
You were such a wonderful and loving friend to me.
In 2003 you saved a beautiful Doberman Pinscher Bubba from the shelter where his time would be short and you took him to a Doberman rescue.
I adopted Bubba from there and I loved him so much!
It was the beginning of our beautiful friendship that lasted until the day you passed away.
I will always keep you in my heart and I will never forget you. Thank you for rescuing Bubba♥ and for loving Mona and for your wisdom, love and friendship.
Rest In Peace my friend, you are now with all your dobermans that you loved so much.
I love you.

I heard Lee before I saw her for the first time, as she was yelling at someone to pick up after their dog at Fort Funston. She was kind of intimidating until you got to know her. But my husband, Michael, and I got to know her very well. She was instrumental in getting us the medical care we needed for our first pup, Cayenne. We might have lost her if not for Lee.
We walked our pup with Lee, on uncounted days. We had an occasional lunch or dinner with her. We brought her hot chocolate at the Fort, back when she could still have it. We’ll both miss Lee tremendously. She will always have a place in our hearts.
Rest peacefully, Lee, and thank you for all you’ve done for us. We love you.
