I did not know Kurt, however something told me to read his obituary. In it, I found validation and comfort in the words written about Kurt struggling with addiction and depression, but that it not define him as a person. As a mother of a teenager struggling with major mental health issues, I found so much comfort in knowing that there is another family who struggled as we do, and that our beautiful child is still just that. A beautiful person. Thank you for your honesty in admitting the struggles your had with him. What a better way to pass on his legacy, than to help others.
Thank you.

I met Kurt back in 2010 at Lookout Mountain Flight Park. I was brand new to hang gliding and Kurt was very friendly and encouraging. He had a vibrant personality that was very inspirational. I was saddened to hear news of his passing. His memory will certainly live on throughout the hang gliding and ultralight community.

I met Kurt in 2011 when I came down to Lookout Mountain Flight Park to learn how to Hang Glide. Kurt was the tub pilot who towed me on my very first solo flight (took me a mile up) and many flights after. He had a heart of gold and would stop to help anyone in need. I have many fond memories including his wonderful lessons (Always tie my glider down and Never leave it set up in the sun all day) and fun gatherings (Movie night outside his Hanger hang out and hours of adventure in Randy's Cave). My deepest condolences to Kurt's Family and Friends. He was a Beautiful Man both inside and out and will Not be forgotten!! Luv Ya Buddy!! Spread your new wings and Fly!!

I knew him to be a kind and respectful young man A young man who lived life to the fullest. Kurt went on more adventures in 37 years than most could do in 100. I will always smile when I think of him and his kind ways. Fly Free Kurt. You will be missed by many.
