Lori J. McCabe
Oostburg - On March 26, 2018, a sad Monday eve, Lori Jean McCabe took her leave.
Her last words said were "I love you;" to family, friends, and kitty cats too. Time on this Earth, was too short to be sure, but the moments had, were used well by her. Most of her time was spent on love: of books and of family and God up above.
30 plus years Lori taught at Sheboygan Falls; imparting her wisdom and knowledge to all. She cherished her students, the first and the last; she remembered them fondly, the current and past. Learning in school isn't all that took place, Lori shared learning in every space. Her nieces and nephews learned while in cars, in gardens, and kitchens, (and as grown-ups, in bars).
We can't share it all, so here are a few: chew with lips closed, you weren't born in a zoo; coffee needs creamer; there's ne'er too many cats; never use cuss words, just say "rats." pink's always in fashion; books are the best; I am the teacher, I have the big desk. Final knowledge she shared was simple and true; do unto others as they'd do unto you.
She is survived by her siblings: Debbie Jones, Tim (Kathy) McCabe, Mike McCabe, Sandi Gottsacker, and Jon (Casey) McCabe; her cherished nieces and nephews: Ashley, Amanda, Brian, Vickie, Kaila, Elyse, Robert, Michael, Emily, Alex, Ben, and Daniel; her two treasured grandnephews: Carter and Jaxon. She is greeted by her parents: Donovan and Alice McCabe; brothers-in-law: Thomas Gottsacker and Steve Jones; maternal uncle: Mike O'Leary; and furry friends: Tracy, Jennie-Any-Dots, McGregor, and O'Leary.
A memorial Mass will take place on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1439 S. 12th St., Sheboygan with Rev. Robert J. Lotz officiating. Family and friends may gather at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., Sheboygan on Tuesday evening from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
The family makes a final request, to help us all lay dear Lori to rest.
No need to dress fancy, we won't make a stink, we simply request that you all wear pink. Her favorite color, to celebrate life, to bring immense joy, instead of great strife. Remembrances made how ever you want, to honor a sister, a teacher, and aunt. Online condolences may be expressed at www.reinboldfh.com

On this anniversary of Lori's new life, I am reminded of her spirit and love of life and children. Her lessons live on and all the memories just get fonder as the years pass. God bless to the entire McCabe family.

I was Lori's student teacher at Sheboygan Falls Elementary School in the fall of 1997 (4th grade). I learned so much from her - she had so much wisdom and made teaching fun. It was truly a blessing to know her. She touched many lives. My prayers go out to her family.

My sincerest sympathy to the entire McCabe family. I had the great honor to be Lori's student teacher. Her lessons to me remain priceless: be yourself because the kids deserve that, teach them to love to learn and love life, have a sense of humor (or sink). You are so missed Lori. Journey on.

My heart goes out to the entire McCabe family. Thoughts and prayers, too. I remember Lori as just so much fun! Her staunch defense of the Beatles when not many of us knew who the Beatles were in elementary school, and the Beatles lunch box. Trying to put in a zipper in Home Ec, and learning the value of the seam ripper time after time all of us did! Also one particular terrific homemade pasta party at the McCabe house. I can not think of Lori without smiling and even laughing at how unafraid she was to call it like it was. I am sad to know she is gone. I know she has a few choice questions for God and all the saints in heaven. May you all be comforted by the words and stories she left you. God grant you peace and hope.

I worked with Lori at Greendale health care and also at the Falls school. I'll never forget the fun we had working with the elderly. She was a blessing to both the young and old. Joanie

I honestly could not tell you what grade or subject I had Lori for a teacher, but I do recall that she was one of those teachers that made an impact and you never forget. I now work as an educator and can only hope that my former students remember me in the fond way I remember Lori. She was simply one of those people that made such a positive impact.
