Marilyn Goodrich Obituary

Goodrich, Marilyn

Marilyn Emma (Klaeser) Goodrich died Thursday afternoon November 23, 2017. She was born in Plymouth Wisconsin to Frederick and Lydia Hartman Klaeser on October 6, 1931, and grew up in Kiel. Soon after High School she was courted by her long-time neighbor, Carlton Frederick Goodrich, whom she married on Dec. 26, 1951. Cully, her beloved husband who served in World War II, pursued his career in education which required them to move from town to town in Wisconsin. Her 5 children were born around the state until they returned back to Kiel where her sixth child was born. The home of their dreams was built in Kiel at 606 Ninth Street where Marilyn and Cully lived for 50? years. During those years, Marilyn was always involved in the day to day activities of her kids. She was creative in making a teacher's salary stretch to meet the demands of six children's' food, clothing and extracurricular activities. After all of the kids were in school, Marilyn took on jobs including working at the New Holstein shoe factory, and driving special needs kids to school in Sheboygan and back. Marilyn was active in Girl Scouts for many years and accompanied her scouts to numerous road trips, including one to Florida where she drove the van. She was also a life member of the Kiel VFW Women's Auxiliary. Her children were all active in school sports and other extra-curricular activities of which she attended all. After all of the kids left the roost, Marilyn and Cully managed the local St. Vincent De Paul store in Kiel, lovingly known as the RAT shop and the St Peter and Paul Food Pantry. She and Cully enjoyed helping those of need and were constantly running here and there to deliver services and goods as people needed them. They loved getting together with their friends to play cards. Cully and Marilyn also fulfilled the lifelong dream of owning a cabin up north where they spent many happy hours. Her children and grandchildren will always remember Marilyn most for the wonderful Christmas's she would put together for them. Each gift had personal sentimental meaning and she was so happy to give them. She acquired the nickname "The Commander" as she was totally in charge of Christmas. In 2003 Cully and Marilyn left their home in Kiel and went to live next door to their first son, Richard (Ricky) who built them a cute little bungalow. A perfect setup for their elder needs, with their son Ricky as the caregiver. Together they enjoyed all of the nature and wildlife that their location created as well as the many get- togethers with family. In 2008, when Marilyn could no longer manage on her own, her children moved her and her precious Pomeranian, Snoopy, to sunny Florida, where she resided in the Assisted Living that her daughter, Carla, managed. While there, she was able to spend many hours with family who lived in Florida and who visited Florida. Her Granddaughter Abbey, took her out to eat, to get her nails done and shopping, which she loved. When Marilyn could no longer care for her dog Snoopy, Pammie, generously and without hesitation adopted him. Marilyn was there for 4 years and then returned to Kiel, Field of Dreams, Assisted Living which she found herself by reading her SS Peter and Paul church bulletin. After a short while at Field of Dreams in order to be closer to her now primary caretaker, Reno, she moved to Prairie Home in Menasha, which was her final resting place. She was surrounded by people who genuinely loved her. Marilyn loved to spend time with her family, see her grandchildren and great grandchildren, go out to eat, go to yard sales and play cards.

She is preceded in death by her wonderful husband and father of her 6 little Indians, Cully, April 2007; her daughter Sandra (Sandy) Jesse Weborg, March 2015; her son-in-law Thomas Lyle Weborg, November 2014; her son Thomas (Tommy) James Goodrich, July 2017. She is survived by her children Carla Ann Lehman and her husband Michael, Davie FL. and their two children Abbey and Cason; Pamela Lynn Goodrich, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Richard Frederick Goodrich, Naples, FL and his two children Alex and Samantha; Daughter -in-law Colleen Goodrich; Steven (Reno) Paul Goodrich, and his wife Laurie, Neenah, WI and their two children Cortnie and Amanda. Sandy's children, Ryann Goodrich and Kris Weborg and Tommy's child Nicole. Five great children, Andrew Weborg, Gabriel Goodrich, Cutler Lehman, Gretchen Goodrich and Matthew Weborg. And her brother, Frederick Klaeser, Chilton, WI.
