Walter Holzhaeuser Obituary

Walter N. Holzhaeuser

Sheboygan - Walter N. Holzhaeuser, a loving husband and father, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 19, 2018 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. He was 83 years old.

Walter was born October 15, 1934 in Madison, the son of Felix and Hazel (nee Young) Holzhaeuser. He grew up and attended schools in Milwaukee and West Allis with his sister Donna Goodrich. On June 12, 1956, he was united in marriage with Beverly Freitag in West Allis. From 1957-1959, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. In 1972, the couple moved their family to Sheboygan.

Walter worked as a semi-driver for local trucking companies throughout his life, including Berry Transport, Chair City Express and Chizek Transport, where he retired from in 1996. After retirement, he went on to keep busy for Manning Lighting.

Walter was a former member of Sheboygan Falls Community Church, where he volunteered on various committees. He was currently a member of Hope Reformed Church. Walter was a loving husband, an avid Packer fan, a willing and helpful handyman, who had a smile for everyone. A resident of the Regency Apartments, he enjoyed spending time with his many friends.

Walter is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Beverly and three daughters: Susan (Ricky) Van Engen, Sally (Rick) Krenz and Sandy Hines (Dave Fortenbacher). He is further survived by 5 grandsons, 2 great-grandsons, 1 great-granddaughter, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his son Scott Holzhaeuser.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00PM on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Hope Reformed Church, 612 Ontario Ave. in Sheboygan with Pastor Bill TeWinkle officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church on Friday from 2:00 - 3:00PM.

He will be laid to rest at Wildwood Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice in Walter's name.
