Ann Marie Gagliotti, 88
Worked at Metropolitan Life, loving grandmother
Ann Marie Gagliotti (nee Roberts), long time Dongan Hills resident, loving mother and grandmother, passed peacefully in her sleep on Saturday night at the age of 88.
She was the devoted wife of 59 years to Michael, who preceded her in death in 2016, loving mother of Mary, Michael, Barbara, Ann Marie, Laura and Jean, grandmother to Laura Imperato, Michael, and Dana Gagliotti Almagno and fond aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Ann Marie enjoyed "going into the City," reading, watching Jeopardy and spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her ready wit and spirit of welcome; many a neighbor found a home in her house. A parishioner of St. Ann's Parish, Dongan Hills, she was a member of the Mother's Guild, the Rosary Society, and taught CCD.
Born and raised in the Chelsea section of Manhattan, she graduated from Cathedral High School and went on to a business program at Holy Cross in Manhattan. Afterwards, she worked at Metropolitan Life where she met her husband-to-be. She and Michael and their growing family moved to Staten Island in 1962 and remained there throughout.
While taking care of her children, Ann Marie found time to earn an Associate's of Arts degree at Staten Island Community College. She then returned to work in the financial sector and retired from Chase Manhattan bank in 1999. Thereafter, she worked and volunteered at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Shrine in Lower Manhattan, St. John the Baptist Church in Chelsea and St. Ann's Church in Dongan Hills.
