Dear Family, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. My Delaware Ave childhood memories circle around your family. I have fond memories of Daddy Roeck baking, swimming in the pool, doing woodworking, and showing me his fish. I remember helping peel apples in your kitchen and eating the best apple pies and strudel. And I especially remember how handsome he was in his lederhosen. Dad had a wonderful sense of humor, and an intriguing political wit. He lived the American dream, raised a wonderful family, and practiced his heritage values. I imagine our dads in Heaven still swapping war stories.... Daddy Roeck, rest in peace.
Love, Theresa Astrab

My grandfather was Edward Pohler and owned Marine Park Bakery in Great Kills. I remember my grandfather talking about Horst. I remember after my grandfather retired from the bakery business, my grandparents would drive over to Horst's bakery and buy baked goods there. I remember going there in the summer with my grandparents.
My aunt and I are sorry for your loss. I bet that the two of them are up there talking about old times.
