Marie Elizabeth Molokie
Loving wife, mother, and grandmother
Marie Elizabeth (Holand) Molokie, beloved wife, mother and friend passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at the Elms of Cranbury, Cranbury, N.J.
Born in Norfolk, Va., she moved to Staten Island at a young age with her parents, Paul and Mary Holand, and her older sister, Mary Lander, who preceded her in 2016. While in Staten Island, she met and married the love of her life, Leon Edward Molokie, who heartbreakingly preceded her in 2012. Both were graduates of Port Richmond High School.
After starting a family, the Molokies moved to East Brunswick, N.J., where Marie resided for over 46 years. Marie was a loving mother to three surviving children, Margaret (Peggy) Pako, and her husband, John, of Monroe Township, N.J., Leon E. Molokie Jr. and his wife, Vicki, of Atlantic Highlands, N.J., and Elizabeth Hughes and her husband, Tom, also of Monroe Township, N.J. Marie had five grandchildren that she adored, Rory and Connor Pako, Ryan and Kevin Molokie and Hunter Hughes.
Marie had the gift of gab and could entertain her family and friends with humorous stories for hours. She was particularly terrible at keeping a secret and loved to make everyone she met feel welcomed and comfortable. She was an exceptional seamstress and loved to quilt and knit gifts. Prior to retiring, Marie was a longtime Administrative Assistant with Woodmere Senior Citizens Housing in Spotswood.
