HOUSTON -- Austin W. "Moose" Foster, 77 of Houston, Ohio passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021 at his home.

Austin was born April 4, 1944 in Dyer, Tennessee the son of the late M. Austin and Mae (Dean) Foster. He was a graduate of Troy High School. Austin proudly served his country in both the United States Marines and the United States Navy. Austin was an outdoorsman and a true craftsman through woodworking and knife making. He loved history, music and was known as a great storyteller.

Austin is survived by his children, Matt (Trish) Foster and Jill (Matt) Byrd; sisters, Wanda (Augie) Augerman, Lydia (Jim) Wick; brother, Hank Foster; sister-in-law, Tammy Foster; grandchildren, Sam Byrd, Shelby (Luke) Mossbarger, Trevor Foster, Morgan (Chase) Black and Sarah Foster; great grandchildren, Xander, Peyton, Graysen and Ella as well as several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary (Hubbard) Foster; daughter, Holly Foster; grandson, Bryan Watt; brother, Keith Foster and sister-in-law, Jenny Foster.

Guests are respectfully asked to wear masks and attendance will be monitored to ensure safety for everyone attending.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Ohio. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Chris Livingston officiating. Burial will follow in Dayton National Cemetery.
