We rose up as a nation, vowing to never forget. I now know how my ancestors felt at the bombing of Pearl Harbor.I will stop each and every day for the rest of my life and pray for the friends and family of one of the victims of this senseless act of terror. For friends and family of Eddie, I pray for you to feel God's warm embrace as I and many others lift you up in prayer today. Blessings to you all, with love from Texas.

Although I wasn't aware of your passing until years later, I remember you as being a very conscientious and dedicated company manager. Wishing your loved ones peace and safety always. Your smile is always in my memory and in my heart. With warmest thoughts, Ro

I did not know Mr. Dillard. To his family and friends, please take comfort in knowing that this stranger hasn't forgotten the souls, including Mr. Dillard's, that crossed over 12 years ago today. I've read through all of the entries in this guest book, and it looks like I've chosen (at random) to remember a fine, fine man. Peace.

Eddie you will never be forgotton from
R.Dillard. You have a grandson by the name of DeShaun Eddie Dillard which look a lot like you, and he is a very smart baby like his grandfather, Eddie. We all know that you are in Heaven right now, I hope one day we all will meet there in Jesus name. amen

I love and miss my Pop's. That was my bestfriend. I wish he could see my son now and how life has been since his passing. Life goes on and Eddie Dillard lives on in my heart. I'm glad that we spent 24 years together. I love you Mr. Eddie Dillard. I still go to his favorite eating spot in Dallas. We had some good times together.

A Reminiscence

YES, thou art gone! and never more
Thy sunny smile shall gladden me;
But I may pass the old church door,
And pace the floor that covers thee.

May stand upon the cold, damp stone,
And think that, frozen, lies below
The lightest heart that I have known,
The kindest I shall ever know.

Yet, though I cannot see thee more,
'Tis still a comfort to have seen;
And though thy transient life is o'er,
'Tis sweet to think that thou hast been;

To think a soul so near divine,
Within a form so angel fair,
United to a heart like thine,
Has gladdened once our humble sphere.

Dear Rosemary,

As we mark another anniversary of 9/11, Matthew and I pray that the passing of time has eased some of the pain of the loss of your precious husband, Eddie.

I still remember my second check ride in SFO as a new FA in 1995 and my horror when I realized I had startled Eddie by dropping an empty cup from my cart onto his tray table causing him react by throwing up his tray table smashing salsa all over the seatback in front of him.

Knowing I was horrified and nervous at my error, (you were the one who was evaluating my service), he smiled so sweetly and with a humored sparkle in his eye, he laughed and told me not to worry about it. I will always hold that memory dear....he seemed like such a nice man and his smile calmed my nerves enough to go on with my service in confidence. I flew for another nine years after that day.

We hope you are doing well and have joy in your life again. We will never forget the horror of 9/11.... but will remember you and Eddie with warmth and gratitude.

May God continue to be with you and hold you close, guiding you in the fullness of Him and His great love for you all the rest of your days.

Dear Rosemary, I did not know Eddie,
but I know his aunt Margaret Robinson in Gary, Indiana, and God gave me this poem almost 2 years
after the 911 tragedy. I would like to share it with you. It is entitled Dial 911.

After the 911 tragedy,

We should see God in all of His majesty.

It brought us together as a nation,

every creed, every color, from His creation.

A day that has been like no other,

A day that so many lives were smothered.

It could have been much worse you know,

let us thank God that no more had to go.

It could have been your son or daughter,

lying between the brick and the mortar.

Let us thank God that He spared some of us that pain,

for we all know, that into each life
must fall some rain.

A friends' relative was killed in the plane that hit the pentagon.

Thank God that you, your son, or daughter were not the one.

Life has toossed us all about,

and we thought we had so much clout.

It's things like this that bring us to our knees,

even the ones who've never prayed,
on that day, cried please! please! please!

Oh God save me, save my loved one, from this dreadful thing that was just done.

You're no different from the rest. All of us are in this mess.

In this life from no tragedy are we exempt,

we must humble ourselves again and pray, and our God we must not tempt.

This has been copyrighted but I have
not had the money to publish it yet, it is in a book, and I also have it on cd with music set to it.

You can reach me at P.O. Box 4448 Gary, Indiana 46404, if you'd like to. My name is Mary White-Collins.
Sent it to Mary Collins C/O Tomika Anderson. Sorry for your loss.

Eddie was one of my best friends at Tolleston High. I know God had a difficult assigment for him that required a kind human being with resume full of love, kindness, caring and understanding. I have noted your mate on TV a number of times since 9-11. Her resume too has the same attributes. It's no wonder you found one another. Rest in Peace Eddie. I will see you again on the other side.

Dear Rosemary, Eddie & I worked together in the eighties & nineties in California. I felt a profound loss when I first learned of Eddies death on 9/11/01. I still remember his great sense of humor and his wonderful laugh as we often stayed late at the office or attended sales meetings together. I share your loss and grief. May we never forget his passing

I would like to send my deepest condolences to Mr. Dillard's wife and family. It will be one year in about 3 days and to me it feels like yesterday. I did not know anyone who passed on September 11, but I as well as America, am touched by the attacks and it hurts. I really do not have words to describe the way I feel. I can only imagine the pain you are going through. My stepfather was killed in a TWA plane crash about 5 years ago and he left behind me and my mom. I am in no way trying to relate to your loss but that I can understand on a very small scale of what it is like to loose someone so fast and for it to be publisized. I am truly sorry for your loss and although I cannot say much to bring you any comfort, I do know he is smilling down on you all from heaven with my stepfather and all of the other angels. May god bless you and your family.
Love,

Uncle Eddie, you and my Aunt Ruby gave me the first job I ever had as a teenager at your 7-Eleven store in Seattle. You worked me hard and kept me from complaining about those God-aweful early hours!
That was so long ago-- feels like several lifetimes now. I wish you could see how much the work ethic that you taught me has helped me prosper. Often when people get divorced, the families of those ex-spouses lose touch but, you on several occasions kept track of me. Thank you for loving me and showing me ways to be successful in life, both personally and professionally. You are missed. And, as we near the one year anniverary of your death, know that you continue to inspire me. Love, H. Kimberley Faulkner

Dear Friends...

I just learned of this website and wanted to add my signature to your guest book. I, too, attended college at Bishop with the Dillard Men and grew to love each one. The relationship that you had with one another speaks volumes of the love that you were taught and shared with others.

You will always be in my prayers. Though it may be hard - - the warm memories are yours to keep and he is only a thought away.

May God continue to bless you and keep you in his care.

Love ya!

Shortly after this tragic event happened my husband and I attended services at our synagogue. The rabbi had included in their program a list of all the names of the victims and we were each asked to stand and read a name. My name was Eddie Dillard. I prayed for him that night and vowed I would never forget his name and six months later I am still praying for him. May he rest in peace. My prayers go out to his family.

I was extremely saddened to learn of Eddie's death. It was my privilege to attend Bishop with Eddie, Andy and Major. As they were all very bright, it was also quite obvious that their parents had done a great job in raising them. Rosemary, Andy, Major, Bernard and your families, please know that I will keep you in my prayers.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

However, I will say that I am no longer intimidated by death because I know that when it is time for me to fulfill that inevitable destiny, I will have the honor of seeing the smile and feeling the loving and giving presence of Mr.Dillard again.
