In Memory of Lisa

On September 11, 2001, Rancho Santa Margarita resident Lisa Frost was a passenger on the ill-fated United Airlines Flight 175.

When Boston University went to California to recruit Lisa Frost she fell in love with the school. By the time Miss Frost was in her junior year at B.U. she was traveling the West Coast talking about the university and doing the recruiting herself. She graduated summa cum laude in May, with two degrees, one in communications and one in hospitality administration, which everyone thought was absolutely fitting for a woman with her embracing character.

She was awarded the Boston University Scarlet Key for extraordinary achievement in student activities and organizations.

"Everybody that comes in contact with her is just so inspired and so motivated," said her father, Tom Frost. On the B.U. Web site there are more than 80 messages sent in by people who knew Miss Frost and many who didn't but were touched by the story of how she died while taking a flight to begin her career at home in California.

Lisa's family and friends will miss her sweet smile. . . .

Peggy Burnett of Cerritos, Calif., never met Miss Frost but she knitted her family a red, white and blue afghan. "My heart just went out to them," Ms. Burnett said.

Mr. Frost recently planted a 13-foot scrub oak near his home in Rancho Santa Margarita in honor of his 22-year-old daughter. He placed a granite plaque there with an inscription he wrote detailing her life, her death and all the lives she touched.

This tree is planted in her memory and is dedicated to parents who have children that are with God in heaven.

Hello, I am doing this for a project at school and I don't know why but as soon as I saw her face I let out a little gasp and clicked immediately. Although I am too young to remember 9/11, reading her story made me cry a little. I am so sorry, family, for your loss and I will be praying for you.

Deeply saddened for your loss. We just moved to Rancho Santa Margarita last year, where Lisa was from, and we learned about this loss this week as we were looking for a place to memorialize the day. We too lost my husband's brother, Stuart Meltzer on that day. Many prayers to you.

I've never met Lisa. (But on 9/11 a friend husband worked with her dad.) and I mention to her that it's a sad day. She then told me about Lisa.
I had the chance to visit Ground Zero in October a year later. Found Lisa Frost name and just started to cry... Really man do cry.

My uncle Ralph and my friend Lisa
Hi Tom and Melanie Frost,

I have wanted to write to you for 10 years and my recent visit to the 9/11 Memorial compelled me to finally do so. I worked with Lisa one summer as an orientation student advisor at BU and I very much enjoyed getting to know her that summer and for the next few years afterwards. We were not close friends but always enjoyed seeing each other. I also had a small crush on her and I know you would understand better than anyone why. She was as sweet and genuine as a person can be and she had a big heart and such a warm presence. My heart goes out to you for your loss and I have thought of your family constantly ever since that tragic day.

My uncle was on the plane with Lisa. His name is Ralph Kershaw. At the 9/11 memorial Lisa's name sits just above Ralph's name. I became aware of this after having stared at Ralph's name for a long time, with tears rolled down my face. It was a surreal, sobering and yet comforting experience to see their names together. For the past 10 years when I think of Ralph and about 9/11, and there is never a day that I don't, I also think abut Lisa. I live in New York City and whenever I go to the 9/11 memorial in the future I will think of and feel connected to you and to Lisa. If there is ever anything I can do for you at the 9/11 Memorial please don't hesitate to ask.

I hope this note finds you and your loved ones well. May Lisa's memory always be for a blessing and may her life continue to inspire and comfort you and all those who she touched.

God's providence works in mysterious ways. I very briefly met you, but when I found out of your death, I was overcome with grief like never before. I've never cried that deeply in my entire life. I'm not sure if you're my guardian angel, or what that spiritual connection was that triggered such a incomprehensible and unforgettable feeling of loss. All I know is, I love you and miss you. Everyday is September 11th to me, as I carry your memory and the memory of others lost on that day. I left some roses for you the other day at your resting place in Orange. It's such a beautiful and tranquil place. I thank God for your life, and how you have changed me and so many others. I know from heaven, you wonder why we mourn so much over losing you. We just can't wait to see that beautiful smile again.

To Tom, Melanie and Lisa - Your in my prayers always.

i never had the chance to meet lisa in person yet I feel she is a part of my family. she certainly is a part of my life. a couple of years after 911 I was visiting Yosemite Nat Park. I noticed a man ans woman standly with arms around each other quietly crying. I nurse in me finally impelled me to ask if ther was anything I could do for them. The lady smiled through her tears and said"Thank yoou no. You see today is our daughte's birthday. Yosemite was her favorite place. We come her each year to be near her. You see, she died in the plane that hit the tower". I have never forgotten her words or Lisa. she remains in my thoughts and prayers to this day.

Oh Lisa, it has been 10 years and I still can't fathom what happened that day. You were my summer babysitter growing up and I remember playing board games, going to the pool, and generally having a great time with you and my brother. I am so sorry because you and your family deserved more from life than what you received.

Dear Lisa,

It's been 8 years since 9-11, and I just want you to know that I still remember you from highschool. I'm still mad that you're taken away from us, and I want you to know that I cherish knowing you. You were a leader, smart, intelligent, caring, thoughtful of everybody, and you will always remain an inspiration to me and all others who knew you. I still remember you from mock trial, how you coached me to be a witness; and the moment you received your acceptance letter from Boston University when your mom handed you the envelope in the car after one of our community service activities for Key Club, one of only two events that I actually attended. I am thankful for knowing you, and I thank you every day for your legacy of committment to your self, family, friends and others that you've demonstrated through your life.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Frost,
I was so pleased that you were able to pay tribute to Lisa and the other families of 9/11 last night at the THHS football game. My son, Brad Hildom, is in the band and felt very honored to be able to participate in the ceremony. He was very touched that you gave everyone in the band a button with Lisa's picture on it. I have still have my button from 2001.

I don't know if you remember us, my husband Mark and I worked with youth at Foothills Church in RSM and had the pleasure of getting to know Lisa. She even babysat Brad and Megan a time or two - though they were too young to remember. Sadly, Mark went to be with the Lord on 10/06/06 due to an enlarged heart. Like you both have, we have found ways to move forward. There is no way to replace or to forget, nor should there be. Please feel free to look us up on facebook: Inmemoryof Mark Hildom, Tammie Brown Hildom, Brad Hildom, or Megan Hildom.

God Bless you both as you remember your daughter, not only on 9/11, but every day.

I was a RSM resident from 1998-2004. It made me sad knowing I lived in her hometown after what had happened to her on 9/11/01. I learned alot about her and how she lived her life on this earth. I'm under the impression she was a amazing human being and she should not be forgotten.
When I take my girlfriends to the lake in RSM, I make sure to read the memorial of Lisa to them. I want them to know who Lisa Frost was, how she lived, what she stood for, and how many accomplishments she had in her short life on earth.
