Kathryn Eileen "Kay" Haupricht, 86, of Dill Hill Road, Johnsonburg, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018 after a lengthy illness at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born at home on Oct. 17, 1931, a daughter of the late James Edward "Pat" and Marie (Dill) Shannon. On July 4, 1953, she married George "Jit" Haupricht. They were happily married for 60 years until his death Nov. 10, 2013.
Kay was a 1949 graduate of Johnsonburg Area schools. She had worked at the St. Marys Hospital for several years and then retired from Stackpole Carbon after 15 years. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, a 50-year member of the Long Level Grange, past Girl Scout Leader for Troop 273 and volunteer at the St. Marys Hospital Retail Shop for several years. She enjoyed crafts, baking and yard sales where she would expand her collection of buttons and cookbooks.
She lived all her life in Johnsonburg.
Kay is survived by her children, Ken (Gina) Haupricht of Johnsonburg and Cheryl (Donald) Launer of Johnsonburg; four grandchildren, Kenny Haupricht, Kristyn (Eric) Lowry, Jamie (Ryan) LaBenne and Brian (Jacqui) Launer; seven great-grandchildren, Nora Haupricht, Elizabeth and Emma Lowry, Dominic and Luca LaBenne and Cora and Cameron Launer; a sister, Connie (Gary) Akers of Johnsonburg; a sister-in-law, Joan Shannon of Markham, Illinois; and a brother-in-law, Doug (Diane) Haupright of Johnsonburg.
In addition to her parents and husband, Kay was preceded in death by her brothers, James "Edward" and Donald Shannon; and her sisters, Patricia Muldoon, Ann Robuck, Norma Polesky and Phyllis Shannon.
A funeral service for Kathryn Eileen "Kay" Haupricht will be held Friday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Ubel Funeral Home, 111 Bridge St., Johnsonburg, with Father David Wilson officiating. Interment will take place in the Holy Rosary Cemetery of Johnsonburg.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at 7 p.m.
There will be no public visitation.
