John David Slater, 68, of Waldorf, MD, died on January 21, 2018 at Restore Health Rehabilitation Center in White Plains, MD.
Born on April 27, 1949 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Mabel Lee Martz Slater and Ernest Frederick Slater Jr. Mr. Slater served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam until he was Honorably Discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant. While serving in the Air Force, Mr. Slater was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He then served as a Police Officer and later a sales associate with the Harley Davidson dealership in Rockville. He was a member of the NRA and would often go to gun ranges to practice shooting. He also enjoyed working on motorcycles and being outdoors.
He is survived by his sister, Janet Slater; and step daughter, April Farmer.
Service and interment will be held on Friday, February 23 at the Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery at 1 p.m.
