Condolences from a former RoP intern in your time of loss. Dennis was a great storyteller and provocateur. I remember him very fondly -- as many a former RoP intern does. He won't be forgotten.

Dear Noreen--My deepest condolences on the passing of Dennis which Zach Thundy informed me about this past week via e-mail (I am now in India on my annual visit to my orphanages here). It's been like memory lane all week about our graduate years at Notre Dame. Denny was always so personable & his wit always there. How I can I ever forget the nightly late runs to the pub in downtown South Bend during our graduate years. You & Denny started the tradition. A pleasant break from the daily grind & pressure of graduate school--& a way to keep us doctoral students in English in a supportive community so very much needed indeed. I last saw Denny on one of my visits back to Notre Dame a few years ago (met him in Review of Politics Office), & we had a wonderful visit indeed. There was the same deep gentleness in Denny then as always--& also the wit. Will always remember Denny's philosophical discussions also. To you, Noreen, & to Pa'draoc--my deepest symapathy. Remembering Denny in my prayers for his eternal repose. He's in the loving embracing arms of Our Good God forever so in everlasting peace & fulfillment. Praying for Denny's family members & relatives & friends also in this time of mourning. Take good care & may Our Good Lord comfort you. Much Aloha. More later on from Hawaii, Jon (Jon James)
