Jan was a special part of our family growing up. She was my mom and dad Shirley and Pat Shifflett best friend. I can remember Jan playing Jacks with me on the kitchen floor. She always took time out for me. I remember the summer I helped her at summer school with her special students. She had the biggest heart and so much patiences. Jan and Ron along with my mom and dad would go trick or drinking on Holloween when we lived in the Greenbriar apartments in Hammond IN. I will miss talking to her every year at Christmas. She is a special lady and will be greatly missed.

Janet was a childhood friend from Koontz Lake. We had many happy hours of fun on the Lake. We learned how to make Swedish coffee cakes under the supervision of Grandma Anderson. We had a lovely long telephone conversation before Christmas and shared memories and laughs Her happy spirit remains in my memory.

Jan will always be remembered with love and smiles. Close friends for over fifty years and we shared many great times and much laughter. I am so saddened by her passing. She was a wonderful, caring person and one I am proud to have called a dear friend. She will be missed by so many.
Rest in Peace, Jan.
