John P. Krausbeck

VALPARAISO - John P. Krausbeck, 77, of Valparaiso, passed away peacefully Friday, March 9, 2018 in his home.
He was born July 5, 1940, in Bedford, Indiana, to Earl and Gladys (Cook) Krausbeck. At the age of 10, his family moved to North Judson, Indiana. John worked as a projectionist for the North Judson Movie Theatre while attending high school. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. John was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church, Valparaiso. He worked at Bethlehem Steel as a millwright for thirty plus years. John enjoyed reading, watching Sci-Fi, Turner Classic Movies, The Andy Griffith Show, and attending musicals. He was an avid sports fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bulls, and DA Bears. John had a funny personality. On July 13, 1974, in South Bend, Indiana, he married Irene (Jamieson) Krausbeck, who survives. Also surviving are their son, James Krausbeck of Valparaiso; daughters, Lisa Camp of Portage, Susan Krausbeck of FL, and Lois Krausbeck of Valparaiso; grandchildren, Nathan Koch of Valparaiso, Erin Koch of TN, and Amelia Mears of Valparaiso; great-granddaughter, Chloe Grace Kujat of TN; and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Fay Marie (Robert) Elliott and Carol Ann (Merle) Huhnke.
A Funeral celebrating his life will be held at 12 noon CST, Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Graceland Cemetery Chapel, 1505 E. Morthland Dr., Valparaiso, with Pastor DJ Murvine officiating. Visitation and viewing will be held from 10 a.m. CST until time of service Tuesday at the cemetery chapel. Burial will take place at a later date. Sunset Funeral Home is caring for the arrangements.
