Dear Denise and family,

It hurt to learn of your loss and my thoughts turn to you.

We worked together at a very busy time of our lives with young families and building the ultrasound department at Blodgett while Ken worked at Butterworth.

Many of the physicians with whom you worked have retired as have I. Your little ones are grown now and no longer as I remember them. It's been a long time since the garage at your house was built. You sailed a Laser as did our son.

So many memories remain. You will be in my prayers.

Ken's well-written book and crusade to protect his pharmacist colleagues from constant exposure to potential violence made him a professional icon.

Aside from his achievements on our version of the 'battlefront', stature as a born leader, and service to the community, he did have a singular weakness....scuba diving.

I recall once at a dinner, mentioning that I spent summers in the upper peninsula on Lake Huron. From the appetizer to dessert, he reveled in a dozen underwater escapades, from the Edmund Fitzgerald to the skeleton of a 1935 stern wheeler close to our cabin.

Few people have that compassion. That he was a devoted family man and a Red Cross hero comes as no surprise. May his unanticipated, sudden demise, serve to fortify the richness of a life well served. My sincere condolences to the family and friends left behind.

Dear Rod - Very sorry to hear of your brother's passing. His obit details many characteristics that remind me of the type of individual you are. It's never easy to say goodbye to a brother. But I suspect you realize you were quite fortunate to share your life and family name with someone as special as this man.
