We are so sad to hear Mr Oliver has passed away.he will sadly missed by the Plaza staff as he was here every Friday to get his groceries and have a yarn with all us girls .
Sorry to read of the death of Bill. Many a good yarn at Boyles some time ago.Wayne Deegan,Gold Coast,Qld.
We were very sad to hear of Bill's passing. A wonderful gentleman who we were privileged to know as a dear friend during our farming life at Limehills.
Our children have special memories of time spent in his company as they were growing up. Many times he helped them with homework and growing produce for the school flower & produce shows. His sense of humour and intelligence was a huge asset to our family over the years.
He would frequently call in after Saturday night vigil mass to our
place & share a 'rigger' with us and we would solve all the world's problems and finish the night with a few rounds of tea and toast. We were always struck by his wisdom and knowledge and how well read he was. He wasn't keen to travel globally but he didn't need to- he had been there through his reading. He had an opinion on everything and we loved him for it and have cherished memories of time spent with him over the years.
Bill was always willing to look after our farm as we were his. When we moved to Cromwell he would always visit us and have and we would share a meal together and catch up. Phone calls were exchanged, not often enough but always plenty of ground covered over the years when he no longer holiday end up our way.
We visited him last when we were in Winton reasonably recently and he was in really good form. He made us so welcome and he told us how happy he was in his home there.
I know you his family, especially Marion will have so many memories to cherish. He loved his family and always shared news of his nieces and nephews. You must have had a great Mother Marion as Bill always spoke so fondly and with many a story of his parents and growing up- but especially of ' the Mater' his lovely Mum, the teacher.
John and I want you to know what a treasure Bill was and how much he meant to us and influenced us in so many positive ways over the years.
His strong faith was his rock and he will rewarded with his eternal reward. Bill was one of life's true gentlemen- we respected him and loved him. RIP dear Bill. Thank you for being a true friend to John and Barbara Simmers as well as Sarah, Nick, Tony, Simon and Alice.
