Wayne Davis Obituary

DAVIS, Wayne Arthur

Passed away on January 31, 2011 at age 79. He is at peace now in the gentle embrace of his Lord.
Wayne served his country as a sergeant in the Army during the Korean War. He worked as a logger, from the time he was a young man, off and on for many years, and loved being outdoors. He wore many different hats over the years but his favorite was the Sullivan Lake Ranger Station where he worked for many years. He was a resident of Pend Orielle County and loved his home outside of Ione, which he shared with his companion of many years, Jeannette Davis. He was an easy-going, uncomplicated man who loved music and was always singing or whistling. He was very innovative, always building or fixing things. He played a mean game of pool and wasn't known to turn down a cold beer. He loved to prospect and work in his garden, but his true passion was his serious belief and study of God's Word.
He is survived by his brothers, Bob and Alvin; sister, Sharon Saicheck; son, and care giver, Wayne, Jr.; two daughters, Jullie Fuller and Valli Maurer; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, as well as numerous stepchildren and their families. Most importantly, his little tuxedo kitty, Lucky, who rarely left his side and brought him much comfort and joy.
There will be a picnic/gathering at West Sullivan Lake Campground (across from the Ranger Station) on Saturday, July 23, 2011 for anyone who would care to join the family in celebrating Wayne's life.
He loved his family and extended family very much and he will be missed.
