I was the commander of Sigma Nu while Jim (Briggs) was at western. He was a great guy, very bright, innovative, and just had a varable multitude of talents and interests. I graduated and lost contact with many from that time. I remember learning that Jim became a pilot but never knew of his distinguished service and accomplishents both in the military and beyond. Jim (Briggs) was one of a kind he will be missed. A life well lived. All the best to Suzanne.

I was stationed at Leipheim AB West Germany with Briggs in the early 80s. He was my immediate supervisor for 3 years. It was a pleasure to work with him. He was very mission oriented but also took the time to develop personal relationships after hours. He was definitely one of the good ones.

I only met Briggs and Suzanne once when they visited friends in the UK. As I am also an ex serviceman we immediately had a common understanding and rapport culminating in several years of correspondence via the internet. As his obituary clearly demonstrates, Briggs had a fascinating flying career whilst on active service and also in civilian life with Suzanne sailing the seas in his boat. he will be greatly missed.

We are so very sad to lose Briggs. He was a friend for many years & a man easily loved. He fought to help make these United States a better place to live. We will miss you Briggs. God has bigger plans in mind. Our hearts & love are with you Suzanne.

When our country needed him, Briggs was there. Every time. As a Raven FAC he faced determined enemy fire on a daily basis. Then he came back to Southeast Asia to do it again. America is built by such men as these and there supportive families.

The times I met Briggs at Raven reunions, there was a warm joy just to be in his presence. Now, only in my imagination can I stand beside him ever again. But I shall dream it just so, because the memory is so precious.

Goodbye dear friend,

In 2013 I decided to upgrade from my Triumph Sprint ST to a Triumph Sprint GT which was no longer available as a new model. It had to be blue... I am from Montreal and none were found in Canada BUT there was one available from a guy in Florida! That guy was Briggs. But buying a used bike at a distance seemed quite risky. THEN Briggs sent me photos of the bike. Of course the Triumph looked fine but it was the state of the garage that the bike was in that made me take my decision. It was pristine and if a bike owner kept a garage like what I was seeing then the risk was null.
Briggs and I kept regular contact by email where we exchanged on everything. That became a long distance friendship which I will miss greatly.
Best to you Suzanne, sincerely. JP and Dominique
