For the Bambury Family,

It was my good fortune to be Pete's Shortstop in the Small Fry baseball program in the 1950's. Four feet 80lb. Jones was the only one in the SF league who was able to catch his super fast pitch. I still have that memory of being at his bedside in St. Joseph Hospital as a twelve year old with his arm in a cast, which I referred to as the golden arm, only one in a thousand make it to the majors and Pete was on his way until that heartbreaking day. As I read Pete's Obituary I saw that nothing stopped Pete from having a beautiful life.

When I turn on the TV for a baseball game and the pitcher takes the mound, I can't stop but think of Pete. I called my friend of 77 years Joey Bednarek to tell him that Pete was no longer with us, and we both turned to the days of yesteryears when we tried to be the one that Pete did not strike us out. RIP.

When I think of growing up in Elmira and all the opportunities we had I am grateful.

Donna, Jack and Mary Ann,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this critical time. I lived on Johnson street and played a lot baseball and football in the George Washington school yard with Pete and the Sophia boys. We had some great times in those days, also went swimming a lot with Pete and your mom, many great memories.

Very sad to learn about Pete's passing. He and Shelby were dear friends to me and my late husband Terry Crandell when they lived in Horsehads, NY. We shared many good times together along with a lot of laughter. He will be greatly missed by many. Rest in peace my dear friend.
