I came across Ed's obituary purely by chance as I have been researching my family tree. Although they never met, Ed and my late mother Eileen Hales (nee Carey) were first cousins (my grandmother Ellen Carey (nee Sullivan) was a sister to Ed's father John). I remember meeting Ed and Martha when I visited Elmira for a few days in 1980. I remember him as a very pleasant affable gentleman. My condolences and best regards to you all.

To Ed's family:
Please accept my condolences at your lose. He made have been a little gruff at times but he wanted to get the best from those that knew him. From past scouting times to when I worked with him at Hardinge. Need more people like him.

Dear Ron, Mike and Linda

I am so sorry for you loss. Your Dad was a great man with a wonderful sense of humor.

Do to shoulder surgery, last Friday, I will not be able to attend the celebration of his life. All of you, and your Dad, will be in my thoughts Monday morning.
