I remember Ernie and myself first meeting. We were checking in as freshmen roommates at Texas A&M dorm 17. We spent that school year together, got along well, and never had an argument. Ernie built a gun case for me in his woodworking shop class and we still use it today in our home. He was a fine Texas transplant. We've enjoyed the emails and humor and friendship through the years. Your visit to us in Texas was so special ( chicken-fried steak, barbecue, giant Texas tea bags). I cherish my Ernie cookbook and using it brings fond memories. It is a blessing to call Ernie our friend. Bobby and Barbara Wilson

Dear Shirley,
Not sure if you remember me, I worked with Ernie & Louie (1973-1980) when I was hired at Cng. Pkg. as Maint. Supv.. I had training in the lab for 2 weeks and worked with both of them. The 3 of us became close friends who respected each other's talents and abilities, and I'm sure each other's jokes!! Maxine recently told us Ernie was in ill health. We are so sorry for your loss as well as our own and so many others. Ernie was a great guy with lots of wit & personality. He will always be a happy memory to us. Sincerely, Bill & Glo

Dear, dear Shirley,
Dani told me the news, and I'm so sad for you. However, I bet Ernie's cooking up something with those angels up above! We will miss his wonderful sense of humor!

Dear Shirley,
Our hearts ached when you called about Ernie. We reminisce about all of the memories he made for his family and for us. The times we had together at Sodus Point and places by the ocean. Our love to you and all of "the kids" as you mend, remember, and move forward.
Love,
Ed and Michele
