Mrs. Rugur, as we repectfully called her, was a neighbor and friend of my family since she married Clyde and moved into his home next door. After moving from Elmira, whenever I returned to my parents home I would always walk over and visit with her. Our last conversation was about her Nook, and I was amazed at how knowledgeable she was about electronics. She was a delight as a neighbor and she is missed by our entire family.

Mildred was amazing. She had such a zest for life and was not one to sit around. Mildred was a colleague of mine at Horseheads, a sister in Alpha Delta Kappa, and a fellow member of The Horseheads Retired Teachers' Association as well as the Elmira Area Retired Teachers' Association. In each group she held a position that kept members up to date on what was pertinent in their lives politically. Not one to sit idly, her travels and interests kept everyone in awe of her fortitude as the years passed. She was indeed an inspiration to those who knew her. My sympathy goes out to the family and friends.

I met Mildred when we were teaching; at Ridge Road School in Horseheads; I looked forward to her "Thought for the Day" that she'd post on her classroom door. In the past 16 years, "Millie" has been a part of my "retiree" social life, I'll miss her at our Monday lunches, Horseheads Retired Teachers' Association, Elmira and Area Retired Teachers' Association, Common Time Concerts, NYS Retired Teachers' Association's Conventions and Corning Senior Center Bus Trips. My favorite memory is from 2013, when we were on a Retired Teachers' Cruise with fellow Horseheads Retirees; we taught her to play the "Hand and Foot" card game, she loved it (she and I were partners, but seldom won a game). I'll definitely miss her "Wit and Wisdom. Rest in Peace now, my friend and save me a place at your table in Heaven.

Most Sincerely,
Bonnie Pollow

I will miss so many, many things about my friend, "Millie". I taught with her at Ridge Road School in Horseheads and I always looked forward to reading her "Thought for the Day" that she posted on her classroom door. For the past several years she has gone to lunch with our Monday Lunch Group, we've been in The Horseheads Retired Teachers' Association, The Elmira and Area Retired Teachers' Association and the NYS Retired Teachers' Association together. We've gone on a Retired Teachers' Cruise and she was my partner when we played the "Hand and Foot" card game. I will miss your wit, wisdom and friendship. Rest in Peace.
